Former Efren frontman and solo Americana troubadour Scott Low just dropped a new, five-song EP, Stole & Spent. You can stream or download the record over on Bandcamp, and below, you can watch a video for one of the EP's tracks, the wistful "Keep On Getting Lost."
Last night, the annual Parade of Lights took over downtown Athens for a celebration of all things festive. As has become tradition, Flagpole, the 40 Watt Club and AthFest Educates teamed up to sponsor the official Athens Music Scene float. This year, we invited the Athens Cowboy Choir to regale onlookers with holiday songs "from just outside the city."
Check out two videos of the action below, shot by Flagpole production director Larry Tenner:

Last month, Athens alt-country troubadour Adam Klein released Archer's Arrow, his sixth album. The record, a collaboration with now-defunct Athens band Nutria, had been in the works since 2010; Klein shelved the project for several years, releasing Sky Blue DeVille with his live band, The Wild Fires, in 2013.

Antlered Aunt Lord, the slow-simmering local garage-pop project led by songwriter Jesse Stinnard (also of Tunabunny fame), is all set to release its Ostensibly Formerly Stunted (and on fire) LP Nov. 20 via HHBTM. Today, we're tickled pink to provide y'all with a first taste of the LP via the video for "The Beezwax," the record's fuzz-forward, steadfastly hummable lead single.
Local indie rock outfit The Hernies has existed in some form since 2013, but its lineup has recently solidified into a four-piece unit featuring Henry Barbe, Winston Barbe, Glenn Reece and Evan Amburn. The band is reportedly prepping the release of its debut album, which it hopes to have out early next year.

Athens band New Madrid has spent much of the past year on the road in support of their debut LP, Sunswimmer. Part of that time is documented on Dawn Teeth Rattling, a live EP engineered by David Barbe and released on Record Store Day.
Today, we've got the premiere of the official video for "Manners," a Sunswimmer standout that appears in live form on the RSD EP.
With two weeks (!) until UGA's season opener against Louisiana-Monroe, it's time yet again to evaluate the team's annual preseason hype video.

A former Athens-Clarke County police officer hit a University of Georgia college student in the head with a baton, then struck him again while he was already on the ground, according to body-camera footage obtained by 11 Alive news.
Good news for fans of defunct local hip hop group Mad Axes: One of that act's founding members, Louie Larceny, is gearing up to release White Love, a 12-track effort recorded, mixed and mastered by Joel Hatstat, this fall.
Earlier this week, Larceny posted the album's moody, menacing first single, "White Money," tohis Bandcamp page. Today, Flagpole is pleased to premiere the song's stylish video.
